Srinagar, Oct 31: Jammu and Kashmir police claimed to have arrested five youth, including a student, before they could join militancy and cross over to Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) for receiving arms training, a senior police officer said on Tuesday.
      Superintendent of Police (SP) Awantipora in Pulwama district of south Kashmir told reporters that on a tip off Pulwama and Kupwara police in a joint operation intercepted two youths before they could cross over to POK.
      He said during their questioning it was learnt that three more youths of youth Kashmir had also planned to join militancy and cross to POK for receiving arms training.
       He said two more were arrested in Pulwama while another was detained at Ramban on Srinagar-Jammu national highway.
       All the youths admitted that they had decided to join the militancy and were waiting to cross over to POK.
      The SP said one of the youth identified as Muntazar Ahmad Wani, a student of Higher Secondary School, Bijbehar, was to appear in the examination from tomorrow. We called his parents and counseled him before handing him over to their family only after they gave assurance that he will not join any unlawful activities in future, he said adding keeping in view the assurance and his future we released him to appear in the examination.
      He said questioning of other four was going on.
