Oct 21: The Karnataka government will provide all necessary facilities to
police personnel as they work under testing conditions and their families too
need protection. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said today. Speaking after
receiving salute at the Police Commemoration Day celebrations here, he said it
was the duty of the state government to safeguard the interests of police
personnel and their families and the government was fully committed to it.
Paying rich tributes to those who laid their lives while on duty in the
country, he said 370 personnel of armed police and policemen had laid down
their lives while serving the country last year and this included 12 from
Karnataka. Mr Siddaramaiah said the Karnataka government was committed to
ensure removal of wage parity among different sections of police force in the State
and as an interim measure it had offered various facilities and also removed
disparity in giving promotions to lower cadre. The government had also offered
special health plans for the police force besides opening canteens for them on
the line of Army canteens and offered facilities to the children of policemen.
He called upon the police force to ensure it uses modern technology in solving
cases that will ensure quick resolution of serious cases of offences and the
culprits get punished early. This will bring confidence in the minds of the
people about the force while it would also bring good name to the government.
