New
Delhi, Oct 13: BJP chief Amit Shah has broken his silence on the
allegations against his son Jay Shah's firm for recording unprecedented turnover
and challenged the detractors to reach court with evidence. "Jay Shah has
filed criminal defamation and also a civil suit ...Jay has himself asked for a
probe. Now, whatever proof you have please reach court and provide things
before it," Mr Shah told Aaj Tak in a programme. He said as far as Jay
Shah's firm Temple Enterprise Private Ltd is concerned, it has "not done
Re 1 business with government, nor has procured land worth Re 1.... It has not
done any contract with government nor indulged in middlemen role like in the
case with Bofors (Gun Deal)". The BJP chief also lashed out at the
Congress for attacking him and his son and charged the grand old party with
lacking "courage" to file suit against anyone who has leveled
corruption charges against the Congress in the past. "I have a question,
there has have been so many allegations against Congress till date, the charge
against Jay Shah is not of corruption per se.... But has Congress ever filed
criminal defamation case or civil suit worth Rs 100-crore against anyone.
"Himmat kyon nahi hae (Why they don't have the courage)," Mr Shah
asked. Mr Shah's remarks come close on the heels of allegation as surfaced in a
website story that claimed that Jay Shah's Ahmedabad-based firm balance sheets
and annual reports showed that the financial years ending March 2013 and 2014,
Temple Enterprise Private Ltd engaged in negligible activity and recorded
losses of Rs 6,230 and Rs 1,724 respectively. While in 2014-15, it showed a
profit of Rs 18,728 on revenues of only Rs 50,000 before jumping to a turnover
of Rs 80.5-crore in 2015-16, the report claimed adding the "astonishing
surge" also came due to an unsecured loan of Rs 15.78 crore from a
financial services firm owned by one relative of a Rajya Sabha MP. UNI
