Kolkata, Oct 10: The West Bengal Government is making every effort to promote the state on the back of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup. With the world’s attention on the city, this is the best time to promote Kolkata and Bengal. The government is using both online and offline methods to promote the state. For example, the hashtag #BiswaBanglayBiswaCup is being extensively used on Twitter, Facebook and other online platforms to promote the government’s activities. All advertising, both online and offline, regarding the World Cup has the tagline ‘Biswa Banglay Biswa Cup’, along with the logo of FIFA. Teasers have been put up across the city, with the tagline ‘Ebar Khela, Jombe Bangla’, coined by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee herself, the big football fan that she is. The State Government has been spreading the brand, Biswa Bangla, again a conception of Mamata Banerjee, across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and across the State Government’s websites. A separate website has been created on the World Cup and related facilities like health, police, etc. A YouTube channel has been set up where a music video specially created for the World Cup by the State Government has been uploaded, whose lyrics and music are both by the Chief Minister. The video has been a massive hit, as proved by the number of clicks. The State Government has taken all planning and execution for the mega tournament to make Kolkata the best host city in every way.
