Ceasework begins in Tripura Jute Mill

Agartala, Oct 9: Employees and staff of Tripura Jute Mill started ‘ceasework’ for an indefinite period from today demanding upgrading Rules of pay (ROP) and accordingly ensured payment of salaries and pensions to the employees. A joint forum of Tripura Jute Mill Shramik Union, Tripura Jute Mill Pensioners’ Association, Tripura Jute Mill Legal Advisory Committee and Die-in-harness and Pensioners’ Welfare Society have launched ceasework till their demands were met. Leaders of the Joint forum stated that the state government was not obeying Supreme Court's Order and not rectifying the ROP. Members of the Joint Forum submitted deputations to the state government repatedly demanding payments and pensions as per the employees of other Public Sector Unit. “We are forced to stage ceasework agitation, after all our pleas fell on deaf ears. We are demanding modification of ROP and providing salaries as well as pension following the same rule applicable to other PSUs”, said a representative of the forum. UNI
