KARGIL OCTOBER 27:- Chairman
Legislative Council Haji Anayat Ali today reiterated Government’s
commitment to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the state with
sophisticated diagnostic and treatment facilities and called for collective
efforts by the health department and social organizations to give impetus to
government’s initiatives in providing better medicare facilities to the people.
The Chairman stated this while addressing a gathering after inaugurating
a free eye surgery camp held in CHC Sankoo. Chairman and Chief Executive
Councillor Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan and Executive Councillor for Health Muhammad
Hussain also accompanied the Chairman.
The camp is being organized by Health Department Kargil in which a team
of senior doctors are performing cataract surgeries of around 150 eye patients
belonging to Sankoo and adjoining villages.
The Chairman said that such camps prove to be of immense help for people
of far off and remote areas who otherwise suffer a lot due to lack of these
vital services. He expressed hope that the initiative will go a long way in
improving the health standards of the people in far flung areas.
Meanwhile the Chairman also inspected the CHC Sankoo and enquired about
the facilities being provided to the patients. He visited OPD, general wards
and other units to take stock of the services being made available there. He
also enquired about the availability of medicines at the CHC and other health
centers in the area and exhorted upon the officers of Health department to
ensure the stocking of adequate quantity of medicines for people during winter
months.
The Chairman also interacted with several public delegations in which
people of Sankoo town and adjoining villages projected demand for the filling
up of the vacant posts of Surgeon Specialist and Physician Specialist and other
posts at the CHC. They also apprised him of their problems which related to
road connectivity, electricity, ration and drinking water.
Responding to the grievances of the locals, the Chairman assured them
that necessary steps will be taken to mitigate in a time bound manner. He also
directed the concerned officers to reach out to the people and take all
requisite measures in this regard.
Haji Anayat Ali said that Government has worked out a novel plan to
extend best healthcare facilities and other basic amenities with emphasis on
accelerating developmental pace in rural and hilly areas. He impressed upon the
officers to work in close coordination with the local people and local
representatives and make concerted efforts to make visible changes on ground.
