Panaji, Oct 25: All India Congress Committee Secretary Girish Chodankar has claimed that many voters were not residing in Panaji Assembly constituency and urged the state Chief Election Officer to conduct detailed inquiry. In a petition submitted to the Chief Election Officer in the city, copy of which was shared with media here on Wednesday, he said, "During my election campaign and door to door visit I have observed that many voters are not residing in the constituency. It is surprising to note that these voters turned out on the election day and cast their votes." He claimed that he tried to assess and made detailed investigations about the voters and found that the names of huge numbers of voters were "illegally" enrolled especially in the government residential quarters where they actually were not residing. "These names are added under blessings of the political power and are only called during election time," he alleged and demanded detailed inquiry. Mr Chodankar had contested Panaji byelection against Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar held recently but lost. UNI
