Oct 17: No nomination was filed on Monday for the 13th Himachal Pradesh
assembly elections. Election Department said it received no papers yesterday
when the process of filing nominations opened for the November 9 polls to the
68-member state legislative Assembly. Without waiting for the announcement of
party lists, one candidate each of the ruling Congress and Opposition Bharatiya
Janata Party filed their papers on Tuesday, according to reports received here.
Former state Forest Minister, Mr Ram Lal Thakur, of the ruling Congress,
entered the fray from Naina Devi. BJP MLA and former Minister, Mr Mahinder
Singh Thakur, jumped into the contest from Dharampur assembly segment of Mandi
district. Unauthentic lists were going viral on the social media. UNI
