Concludes 6-day tour of the region
KARGIL, OCTOBER 28: Minister
for Cooperatives and Ladakh Affairs, Tsering Dorjay today concluded his
extensive six-day tour of the Zanskar region during which he interacted with
various public deputations and listened to their grievances.
During the tour, the Minister also inspected progress on various ongoing
developmental works and called for their timely completion so that their
benefits percolate to the grass root level.
Interacting with a series of public delegations, Dorjay said that the
Government is fully conscious of the problems and issues of people living in
far-flung areas of the State and all out efforts are being made to ensure
satisfactory and uninterrupted delivery of services at their doorsteps.
The Minister said that to provide better road connectivity to Zanskar
valley project worth Rs 4200 crore has been sanctioned by the Government under
PMDP and work on the project is in full swing. The completion of this
prestigious project will usher in a new era of unprecedented progress and
development in the area, he said. The Minister said that to speed up
the work on the Nimo-Padum-Darcha Road additional funds to the tune of Rs 1250
crores have been sanctioned.
Dorjay
assured deputations that he will personally monitor the headway with regard to
Tamasha Nallah Hydel Project and will take up the issue for its early approval
with the concerned authorities. He said that efforts are also on to connect
Zanskar valley with power grid.
Meanwhile, the Minister took stock of the pace of work going on several
projects. He reviewed ongoing work on Chadar Road, Padum-Lungnaq road and
several other roads under project Vijayak and PWD and exhorted upon the
officers to ensure completion of the projects within the stipulated time period
in view of the fast approaching winter season. He also inspected Pidmo
Motorable Bridge being constructed at a cost of Rs 5.68 crore. He also
stressed on speedy completion of Kargil-Zanskar National Highway (NH301),
besides provision of better telecommunication services and other basic
amenities.
He also visited Stara, Sani, Rug Rug, Ufti, Pipiting besides several
other adjoining villages and listened to peoples’
grievances. The Minister also visited the Dozing Photang School and interacted
with the teachers and students. On the occasion, he announced Rs 10,000 in
favour the school.
Villagers of Abran, Akshow, Skyagam, Manda, Phey, Ranthaksha, Tungri,
Karsha Youlsum and adjoining villages also apprised the Minister about their
issues and demands pertaining to the provision of an adequate quantity of ration,
electricity, drinking water, medical facilities in view of the onset of the
winter season.
