SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 25- In
furtherance of its continuing endeavour to support deserving institutions in
the arena of school education, health care, disability and those involved in
promoting cultural and spiritual objectives, Shri Umang Narula, Chief Executive
Officer, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, has, on the direction of Governor N.N.
Vohra, who is Chairman of the Shrine Board, provided financial assistance of about Rs.
3.70 lac to Abhedanandan Home, an institution for Specially-abled Children,
located at Ram Bagh, Srinagar.
Earlier, the Governor had hosted the Specially-abled children and their
teachers at Raj Bhavan and, in the course of his interactions with the
Principal of the School, learnt about the urgent need for funds for meeting
certain infrastructural requirements, the lack of which was adversely affecting
the development of the children, particularly the lack of Group Hearing Aid
Devices for those being treated for hearing impairments. The Principal had also
informed the Governor about the difficulties being caused for the lack of
essential furniture like chairs, benches, white-boards etc.
It is pertinent to mention that Abhedanandan Home is the oldest and the
only such institution in the Valley which imparts education to children who
suffer from hearing and vision impairments. Presently there are 60 students in
this School, with hearing impairments, who urgently need help.
