JAMMU, OCTOBER 23 – Minister for Industries and Commerce
Chander Prakash Ganga today said the government has taken various path-breaking
steps for providing better road connectivity to the people of the rural areas.
The Minister was speaking after kick-starting blacktopping works of road
link from Ramgarh to Chak Bana and Chak Salarian and Smailpur to Derra being
executed with a cost of Rs. 1 crore.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said road connectivity brings
development with it and the government is working relentlessly to provide all
basic amenities in rural areas at par with urban areas.
Stressing that the government is creating new assets for the people in
rural areas, the Minister said proper utilization of these assets is the
responsibility of the locals and they should take proper care of the public
assets.
Interacting with the locals, the Minister listened to their grievances
and assured them that concrete steps would be taken for improving sanitation,
healthcare and educational facilities in the border villages. He asked them to
take maximum benefit of the state and centrally sponsored welfare schemes which
have been implemented for uplifting the living standards in rural areas.
The Minister asked the concerned to maintain quality while executing
works besides ensuring that the roads get blacktopped within a stipulated time
frame.
