Oct 28: A CBI court on Saturday rejected the bail plea of eight police
officials accused of custodial death of Gudiya Gang Rape accused Suraj in
police lock-up on August 18. The CBI presented the eight accused through video
conferencing and extended their remand till November 9. Himachal Pradesh Police
IG Z H Zaidi, DSP of Theog Manoj Joshi and six other police officials were sent
to judicial remand on October 3. This was fifth time when their judicial
custody was extended. The accused were arrested by the CBI on August 28 on the
statement of police sentry who stated that the special investigation team
members are responsible for the death of accused in the police lock up. On the
death of accused Suraj in police lock up, the state High Court handed over the
matter to CBI. Earlier, Mr Zaidi and all the accused had moved a bail
application in the court, but Sessions Judge Verinder Singh had rejected their
plea on the CBI objections which said that investigating agency would file the
charge sheet within 90 days. UNI
