New Delhi, Oct 7: He may be a veteran who has acted in more than
500 films and plays but acclaimed Bollywood actor Anupam Kher says he does not
carry the weight of his name on the sets while shooting. Talking to UNI, Kher ,
who will be now seen in ‘Ranchi Diaries’, said,' I understand the insecurity of
the newcomers in the industry and their nervousness. The beginning of actors of
my generation was very normal. So, I do not carry my weightness on the sets.
Otherwise these young actors will easily become nervous because of us.” Anupam,
who was present in the national capital to promote ‘Ranchi Diaries’ along with
the entire cast Satish Kausik, Himansh Kohli, Soundarya Sharma and Director
Sattwik Mohanty said,'even I was shivering with nervousness when I first stood
in front of Dilip Kumar. And at a time it becomes vice-versa, we learn from the
youngsters. More than talent, it is the attitude that makes a person successful
in life.' Talking about the pressure of being a producer, Anupam, who has also
co-produced ‘Ranchi Diaries’, said, “Of course there is a pressure of your own
standards. I want things to be perfect and professional. I belong to the
theatre and I have learnt that and also want everything to match the clock. At
the end of it, we should get the money back for the next film. This will
increase our enthusiasm and will be able to complete others dreams. I am at the
position where I can run like a tortoise and be with my colleagues. I am not in
a hurry, but I am in the hurry for the future of young actors, directors. If
they do well, I will be happy.” “I think the reward we should get back and the
time we spend together with Satish Kaushik and the team is fantastic. We are
very lucky that the songs of the movie has done very well till now,” he added.
Speaking about the commercial aspects of the movie, the actor said,'Around Rs
12 crore has gone into the film, including print and publicity. We have
satellite open, digital open and lot of other avenues open for this. We hope
that we get a good amount back as a return, so that we can later produce more
films.” Whether the team faced any Maoists encounter during their shoot in the
state of Jharkhand, the actor said,”No. The entire shooting went very smoothly
and nothing of that sort happened. People of the city were very helpful. Fear
is everywhere, but I must say we were very lucky and fortunate that we got the
great infrastructure, great help from the government of Jharkhand and more than
that people were wonderful.” On the trend of talent from smaller towns making
it in the industry, Anupam said,'Ranchi and other smaller cities have great
talent. These smaller cities can teach everyone a lot. They have so much
capability.. Whether you see Bollywood, in sports like M S Dhoni or in
commonwealth games, people from small cities have done wonders in every field,”
he said. 'I always believe that people see dreams in small cities and they
target big cities to get them fulfilled. I think smaller town people have so
much guts in them, because they start from the scratch and they don't have the
fear of failure.' On why Ranchi was chosen as the place of shooting, Anupam
said,'I had done shooting for ‘MS Dhoni: the untold story’ Jharkhand. And I
have found the people are very shooting friendly, the administration is very
helpful. So keeping that in mind, I asked Sattwik to go and check the location
whether it suits him or not. After the shooting started, the government decided
to give subsidy to the film. So there are many factors which have gone into
it.' On efforts to get the movie tax-free in Jharkhand, the actor said,'We have
met the Jharkhand Chief Minister and he has looked at it positively and
hopefully it will get tax-free. Officially, the Chief Minister has not
announced yet, but he said that he will try to do it.' Talking about the film,
Anupam said the movie is not a crime tutorial but a funny movie. Asked if there
are any depiction of real-life characters in the movie, Anupam said, 'There are
no real-life characters or it is not a biopic of any person. But the characters
are relatable with our everyday lives. It’s a realsitic movie.' Set in a small
town , ' Ranchi Diaries', starring Anupam Kher, Jimmy Shergill, Soundarya
Sharma, Himansh Kohli, Satish Kaushik and Taaha, tells the story of a young
aspiring actress/model and her Godfather who can do whatever it takes to make
it big in life. Directed by Sattwik Mohanty, the flick is slated to release on
October 13. UNI
