Delhi, Oct 16: India is ready and poised to be the global leader in the
food processing sector, Food Processing Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said here
on Monday. Addressing a curtain raiser press conference on World Food India
2017, she said the country can become the global food factory for the entire
world, 'if we develop the infrastructure in the sector'. 'Making India
self-reliant in food processing sector, is a necessity for the entire world,'
Ms Badal said. The Minister said the vision of World Food India is to transform
the food economy of the country and to help farmers double their income. She
said the best technology will be displayed at the World Food India from the
global leaders who are keen to have collaboration with India. Talking about
Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana, Ms Badal said this Yojna has proved to be
a catalyst in developing the food processing infrastructure. 'I urge all of you
to be part of the No Waste On My Plate campaign,' the Food Processing Minister
said. Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti
