SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 14: The Jammu & Kashmir
State Judicial Academy (JKSJA) today organized a two-day sensitization
programme on the Food Safety & Standards Act 2006 for Judicial Officers,
Adjudicating Officers, Designated Officers under Food Safety Act, Food
Inspectors.
The sensitization programme,
held at J&K State Judicial Academy at Mominabad here, has been organized as
part of JKSJA’s efforts to strengthen the judicial and administrative
institutions and improve necessary skills and efficiency of all stakeholders of
the Justice Delivery System in the State.
The programme was inaugurated
by Justice Alok Aradhe, Chairman JKSJA in the presence of Justice Hasnain
Masoodi, former judge J&K High Court, Abdul Rashid Malik, Director JKSJA,
Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Principal Secretary, Health & Medical Education
Department (Commissioner Food Safety), Mehmood Pracha, Empanelled Lead Counsel
of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and Mohammad Yousuf
Akhoon, Presiding Officer Food Safety Appellate Tribunal.
Speaking on the occasion,
Abdul Rashid Malik said the programme gives an ample opportunity to feel
sensitized and alive towards one’s functions and duties, adding that any inaction
or negligence puts lives of millions in peril.
Justice Alok Aradhe, in his
special address on the occasion, gave an overview of the sensitization
programme, saying that it intends to provide the relevant and practical
insights about food safety, standards, food safety management systems and
related legal provisions under both the Acts.
The working sessions of the
sensitization programme were chaired by resource persons including Justice
Hasnain Masoodi alongwith Abdul Rashid Malik, Mehmood Pracha and Mohammad
Yousuf Akhoon.
While, in the 1st session, overview
and salient feature of the Food Safety & Standards Act 2006 were discussed
and deliberated upon, the latter sessions included technicalities in which the
participants made presentations on implementation of the Act including the
successes, failures, challenges and the way forward for its effective
implementation.
On the occasion, the
participants shared their experiences whereas the resource persons responded to
the questions and issues raised by the participants.
