New
Delhi, Oct 3: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday made a
surprise visit to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) and GB Pant Hospitals. He was
accompanied by Health Minister Satyendar Jain and senior officials of the
health department. The Chief Minister interacted with patients who were
standing in queues for medicines at both the hospitals and asked them whether
they were getting all the prescribed medicines. There were a few medicines
which were unavailable at the GB Pant hospital. The Chief Minister himself
checked the records of the medicines available. On learning about the shortage
of some medicines, the Chief Minister summoned the Director of GB Pant
immediately to his office at the Delhi Secretariat. At the LNJP, the patients
told the Chief Minister that they were getting the medicines being prescribed
at the hospital counter. Mr Kejriwal talked to a large number of patients to
know the availability of free medicines at the hospital counters. However, the
Chief Minister told the MS/Director of both the hospitals to ensure that the
waiting time at the medicine counter is cut short as much as possible. He said
the cut in waiting time at both the medicine counter and registration desk
would make it convenient for the patients. On requirement of more pharmacists,
Mr Kejriwal will appeal to Lt Governor Anil Baijal to give nod to the hiring of
new pharmacists for the better of the patients at the hospitals. Increasing the
number of pharmacists would make the queues at the hospital shorter and would
save the time and energy of the patients and their attendants. UNI
