Chennai,
Oct 9: The Madras High Court today adjourned to November two, hearing in
the cases filed by 18 AIADMK MLAs challenging their disqualification by Speaker
P Dhanapal for withdrawing support to the Edappadi K Palaniswami government and
for demanding his ouster. When the pleas filed by the disqualified MLAs owing
allegiance to ousted AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran, came up for hearing, Mr
Justice Ravichandrababu also said the stay on holding the floor test would
continue till further orders. Stating that there would be no stay on
disqualification of the MLAs, the court also said the Election Commission
should not hold any elections to the 18 constituencies, which were declared
vacant pursuant to the disqualification of MLAs, till further orders. The Court,
during its earlier hearing on October four had said that all the parties to the
case should complete their submissions and arguments by today and that no time
extension should be sought. But the counsel for Chief Minister Edappadi
Palaniswami's sought time to file reply to additional affidavits and rejoinders
filed by the MLAs, following which the Judge, after objecting to them,
adjourned it to November two. UNI
