JAMMU, OCTOBER 13-
International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction 2017 was celebrated by SDRF 2nd
Bn here today at its headquarters by organizing massive mock Drill Exercises
cum Demonstrations.
The demonstrations were held in presence of a large number of students
drawn from Government Girls Higher Secondary School Shastri Nagar, Government
Girls Higher Secondary School Mubarak Mandi Jammu, Ranbir Higher Secondary
School, Oriental Academy Mohalla Afgan Jammu, Model Academy BC Road Jammu and
Jodhamal Public School.
The mock
drills covered rescue operations during Man-made and Natural disasters like
Road Accident, First Medical Responder, Collapse Structure Search and Rescue,
controlling of Small Fire incidents and Flood Water Rescue.
The staff
of these school and representatives of various departments were also present on
the occasion.
A group of students also participated in the mock drill.
Earlier, Commandant SDRF Rashmi Wazir welcomed the participants and the
Chief Guest IGP Hgds/CD & SDRF J&K, Danish Rana.
The chief guest, in his address, appreciated the role of SDRF 2nd Bn
Jammu for conducting such Mock Drill Exercises cum Demonstrations. He also
highlighted the concern of Government to strengthen the institution of Disaster
Management in the state of J&K. He informed that the Directorate of Hgds/CD
& SDRF J&K has prepared comprehensive plans for training of SDRF
personnel and purchase of high value rescue equipments. The Chief Guest also
requested all stakeholders to prepare themselves in an efficient manner and
strengthen capacity building for tackling adverse & hostile situations.
