New
Delhi, Oct 23: Tightening the screw for compliance of Garbage management
rules in the national capital , National Green Tribunal has imposed a fine of
Rs one lakh each on the railway stations of Vivek Vihar, Anand Vihar, Shahadhra
and Shakur Basti. The NGT charged this penalty after hearing a matter related
to solid garbage decantation. It says that these railway stations have violated
the rules regarding solid garbage decantation, hence the fine. The Tribunal is
very concerned about the rising pollution levels in the national capital and
the NCR region and, therefore, it has been laying stress on strict compliance
of rules for waste management and controlling environmental pollution. The NGT
is of the view that these rules and regulations should be strictly followed and
stringent action would be taken against anyone violating them. UNI
