Oct 3: The Salem city police have registered case against the sidelined
AIADMK (Amma) leader TTV Dinakaran and 36 of his supporters for distributing
seditious handbills defaming the government yesterday. Police sources said so
far five persons among them, including former MLA Se Venkatachalam, Surya,
Chandran, AIADMK General Council Member Kalaivani and Sasikumar were arrested.
They were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days last evening. Following a
complaint from AIADMK Hasthampatti area Secretary Saravanan, the police have
initiated the action. Besides, Mr Dinakaran, police have named 16 people in the
case and another 20 persons are unidentified. Police also said they have
included Karnataka Unit Secretary Va Pugazhendhi Vetrivel, close aide of
Dinakaran, as their names were mentioned in the pamphlets, the sources added.
