Sensex surges by 252.44 pts

Mumbai, Oct 13: The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) spurted today by 252.44 points at 32,434.66 as buying was witnessed across the board. The Nifty too gained by 66.75 points to 10,163.15. The BSE registered intra day high and low at 32,445.22 and 32,247.74 respectively. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) recorded day intra day and low at 10,168.75 and 10,120.10 respectively. Sectoral indices like Telecom, Utilities, Energy, Materials, Consumer Durable, Industrials kept the market firm in early trade. The gainers were Bharti Airtel by 6.71 pc to Rs 426.90, Tata Steel by 1.93 pc to Rs 704.15, ICICI Bank by 1.83 pc to Rs 272.45 and HDFC Bank by 1.76 pc to Rs 1847.40. The losers were Dr Reddy's Lab by 0.86 pc to Rs 2359.45, NTPC by 0.79 pc to Rs 175.20, Sun Pharma by 0.73 pc to Rs 535.45 and ITC by 0.62 pc to Rs 265.35. UNI
