New Delhi,
Nov 8: In a startling turn to the Ryan International School boy murder
case, the CBI on Wednesday said they have detained a 16-year-old student, who
has confessed to killing the seven-year-old.
He assaulted Pradyuman to create a situation in the campus, which could lead to postponement of his upcoming examination and the impending Parent Teacher Meet, the national investigating agency said, adding that the student did not have a bright academic record. The prime suspect will be produced before the Juvenile Justice Court in Gurugram on Wednesday, where, CBI said, it will file a plea for his custody. The accused was arrested from his Gurugaram residence at around 2330 hrs on Tuesday night, after a thorough investigation, including CCTV footage and forensic evidence, it added. Ruling out sexual abuse with the seven-year-old, the CBI said no one had tampered with the evidence. During the entire process of interrogation, the parents of the accused were kept informed, the agency revealed. On September 22, the CBI had registered a case in the killing of Class 2 student Pradyuman, who was found lying in a pool of blood on the morning of September 8, with his throat slit in one of the school's toilets.
The body bore cut marks at various places, while a knife was recovered from the spot, which was later confirmed as the weapon used in the crime. Earlier, Haryana police had arrested Ashok Kumar, a bus conductor, who was working with the school for the past eight months. Asked if the CBI would oppose the bail plea by relatives of Ashok, who was in custody, the agency replied in negative. The CBI also refused to comment on the current status of Ryan International Group Chief Executive Officer Ryan Pinto and his parents - founding chairman Augustine Pinto and Managing Director Grace Pinto, who were granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Monday. The Supreme Court had also directed the Punjab and Haryana High Court to decide the matter within 10 days. UNI
