President visits Mizoram

 

Aizawl, Nov 29: President Ram Nath Kovind arrived in Aizawl this afternoon, in his 
maiden visit to Mizoram after assuming office.
From Lengpui Airport, the President was flown to Thuampui Helipad on the northern 
part of the city on Indian Air Force helicopter where he was received by the state Governor Lt Gen Nirbhay Sharma (rtd), Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and his Cabinet colleagues, and other top officials.
Later he met the Governor, the chief minister and the Council of Ministers. A cultural 
programme was organised for the President later in the evening.
The President is scheduled to visit PC Girls School in Aizawl on Thursday morning, 
before interacting with leaders of leading civil society organisations.
He will address a special state assembly at 1100 hours. UNI
