Rae Bareli, Nov 1: Five people were killed and around 200 others were injured when a boiler at the
new 500 megawatt unit of the NTPC's Unchahar Thermal power station exploded on
Wednesday.
Police sources said the
boiler tube of the newly commissioned sixth unit of 500 MW unit exploded at
around 1600 hrs.
The unit was on trial run when the accident occurred. The unit was set up jointly BHEL and NTPC.
The sources said five workers were killed in the explosion while around 200 others were injured. While some of the injured have been rushed to Lucknow, others have been admitted to the district hospital in Rae Bareli. UNI
