JAMMU, NOVEMBER 25: Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder
Gupta today launched the blacktopping works on 5 km long Sunjwan-Chatta road
link being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).

Randhawa, besides concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
In its final leg,
the road is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 3.63 crore, besides an
additional Rs 26 lakh for its maintenance in next 5 years.
Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker
said that development of road infrastructure brings multiple socio-economic
benefits to the people and catalyzes the local economy.
“With the
development of all weather rural roads, benefits to the rural economy will be
quickly visible including increased mobility, increased productivity, saving in
cost of transportation of men and material and speedier flow of commodities
besides, changes in the life style”, he added.
Reiterating
government’s commitment towards development of road connectivity across all
regions, he said the government has chalked out carefully calculated phase by
phase road infrastructure development plan for the state. The execution of
these projects is being meticulously carried out in a phased and time-bound
manner to ensure the benefits of these initiatives reach common masses, he
said.
The locals expressed gratitude to the Speaker for initiating and
executing this project on war footing, with special attention on the quality of
road.
