Militant killed as Army foils infiltration bid at LoC in Kupwara

Srinagar, Nov 3 (UNI) A militant was killed when alert troops foiled yet another infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector in north Kashmir district of Kupwara.
      An Army official told UNI that troops guarding the LoC noticed a group of militants infiltrating into this side from Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) in Machil sector.
       He said the soldiers challenged the militants and asked them to surrender. However, they started firing at the troops.
      The forces also retaliated, ensuing in an encounter in which one militant was killed. Body of the slain militant and one AK 47 rifle were recovered from the encounter site. "The operation was still going on and additional security forces have been rushed to further cordon off the area," he added.
