Srinagar, Nov 16: Even though the Western
Disturbance (WD), with very less moisture, was still active in the region,
there was no chance of heavy rain or snowfall during the next 48
hours in the Jammu and Kashmir where Leh remained coldest at minus
5.9 degree while it was minus 4.5 degree minimum temperature at world famous
ski resort of Gulmarg. Despite snow on higher reaches and rain in the plains, there was no
change in the water level in the water bodies, which remained lowest in several
decades in the valley, where people are facing water and power shortage. The WD, originating in Arabia sea and entering the region through
Afghanistan and Pakistan, had caused snowfall on higher reaches while plains,
including Srinagar recorded light rainfall, partially ending the long dry
season. However, there was no change in the water level in river Jehlum and its
tributaries besides Asia’s one of the largest sweet water lake “ Wullar” which
remained lowest in several decades, affecting water and power generation in
local projects. As the WD carrying very less moisture,
