Delhi, Nov 11: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) may have lost the Assembly
elections in Punjab earlier this year but party leader and MLA Alka Lamba said
AAP would continue its fight against the menace of drug abuse in the state.
'We went to Punjab to win the fight against the menace of drug abuse. We did not go there just to win the elections. Elections was the medium, so that we could win over this issue of drug abuse. 'If we have lost the elections this doesn’t mean that we have lost the fight against this evil. The fight is not going to over with the loss of elections in Punjab and we will keep fighting,” she told here. Lamba, who was promoting the Punjabi film 'Ik Onkar', dealing with the problem of drug abuse in Punjab, said the banning of the film by the Censor Board showed that the roots of drug dealers were spread in the government. ”The roots of drug dealers are spread in the government, our system, police or censor board because if Censor Board is banning such kind of movies, we can doubt that drug dealers etc are so widespread that they are affecting censor board,' she said. Taking a dig at the Censor Board, Lamba, who was present here to promote the movie along with ex-Law Minister Delhi Somnath Bharti, alleged that there was a big corruption in the Censor Board. 'I am shocked at the attitude of the Censor Board. The board is thinking the movie will create communal violence or disharmony. This shows there is a big corruption in censor board too. If we show this kind of movie there won’t be any problems instead the income of drug dealers will be reduced. For sure the movie will effect the income of such kind of people,” she said. Expressing her support for the cause that the movie seeks to take up, she said, 'not only Punjab but the entire India is facing the issue of drug abuse. This is what the highlight of the movie. But our government is not allowing us to showcase the rights and wrongs of the society. We all are standing together for the movie and the corruption too.” The movie deals with evils like drug addiction, corruption, rape, killing and injustice prevailing in the society Lamba said she would make efforts to ensure that the message of the film reaches each and every household.
”From my side I assure that even if Censor Board doesn’t gives permission for the movie, we will take out ways to promote the movie to each and every household where people are effected due to drug abuse and are on the way of crime. We will try that the movie outreaches to so many people that they accept the solution shown in the movie,” she said. ‘Ik Onkar” The Revolution as a title itself portrays the message of Oneness in the society. The film, made under the banner of Nanak Films International, has been directed by Aviral Raj Sharma and produced by Talwinder Singh. UNI
