Siliguri,
Nov 2: The Bengal Safari Park on the outskirts of Siliguri has now
become
home to a pair of two Asiatic Himalayan black bears, named Jennifer and Dhruv.
The bears were brought from Darjeeling. One of them is eight years old while the
other is 17, a forest official today said.
At present, both the bears are caged. Their diet has been enriched with the necessary
nutrients and many fans have also been installed to ensure that their surroundings
maintain a cool room temperature.
It is being expected that the bear safari would commence at the park from this year
itself. The bears will be released into the forests after caring for them in the cage for a
few days, the official added. UNI
