New Delhi,
Nov 13: The Aam Aadmi Party Government on Monday filed a review petition
before the National Green Tribunal (NGT), requesting it to reconsider its
objection to exclusion of women and two-wheelers in the Odd-Even scheme,
following which the Government had cancelled its roll-out.
The matter is likely to be heard by the Tribunal on Tuesday at around 1400 hours. On Saturday, the Tribunal had allowed the Delhi Government to roll out the 'controversial' Odd-Even scheme on Delhi roads, from November 13 to 17, to ease the air pollution situation but refused to grant exemption to women and two-wheelers.Earlier, Delhi Minister Gopal Rai told reporters that the decision to roll out the scheme would be taken after the NGT's observation on the matter.
The Minister also said that Delhi Chief Minister and Cabinet were in touch with environmental scientists and constantly monitoring the situation on 'air pollution' in the national capital.
Quoting reports of the monitoring stations, Mr Rai said, "In last 48 hours, pollution level was 'fluctuating'. The pollution level in last six hours was 'down'." The Minister also lashed out at Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal for blaming Delhi Government for the situation and asked the latter not to "politicise" the matter, adding, the AAP Government will take all the necessary steps to ease the situation. Mr Rai said the Government will hold a meeting with Pawan Hans this evening regarding aerial sprinkling of water. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that his office was constantly trying to fix meeting with his Haryana counterpart.
The AAP Government held 'stubble' burning by neighbouring Haryana responsible for the alarming rise in pollution in the national capital. The pollution levels continued to remain 'severe' in the National Capital, leading to 400 mt visibility at both national and international airports, while particulate matter was recorded at 581 and 367 for PM10 and PM2.5, espectively.
