KATHUA, NOVEMBER 04- Reiterating Government`s commitment to develop
areas having tourist potential, Dy CM, Dr Nirmal Singh today said that Billawar
has glorious history of religious and economic activities. He maintained that
the natural beauty of Billawar makes it unique place to visit with sprawling
landscapes and religious shrines. “The place can be further revamped as
heritage town to attract tourists to this area” he added.
Dr Singh was interacting with the locals after paying obeisance at
Ringri Mata temple inside historical Garhi Fort at Thara Kalyal on the occasion
of annual congregation of Sumbria Rajput community.
The
community members from Punjab, Himachal, Haryana and surrounding areas thronged in large numbers to get blessings of the community deity.
Highlighting several initiatives launched to restore the pristine glory
of Billawar town, DyCM said that Rs 32 Lakh from his CDF has been sanctioned
for the construction of boundary wall along the Garhi Fort for its
conservation. He directed the ADC to immediately start the demarcation work. He
also said that road connectivity to religious places will also get a fillip to
increase the tourist inflow and give impetus to the economic activities
in the area.
Dy CM further said that preserving historical monuments and bringing
them on tourist circuit provide a great attraction to devotee tourists and
heritage lovers.
“The end
beneficiary in the religious tourism is always local population but they have to work in tandem with
the government with a vision where emphasis is laid on infrastructure,
awareness, education and training” he added.
Later, the Dy CM also paid obeisance at the annual congregation of Upadhaya
community near Thara Kalyal where people from nearby villages also thank him
for sanctioning Rs 12 Lakh from out of his CDF for road connectivity and
improving PDD infra.
