New Delhi, Nov 3: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday said that in the changing scenario in the agriculture value chain will make the food processing a major and main industry in the future. 
Addressing the inaugural session of the World Food India 2017 here, Mr Jaitley said, "The farm to kitchen chain is going to change in India, like elsewhere, with increased agricultural production, better storage facilities, more food processing and changing consumer food preference.”
Asking entrepreneur to focus on this sector, Mr Jaitley said, "Food processing is going to be one of the major and important industries of India in coming years. Entrepreneur should think in long terms keeping 2040, 2050 in mind." 
He added that government is ensuring that investors who come from various parts of the world have a good experience and go back happy." 
Finance Minister said that the Food Processing industry is booming as the total market size was of 193 billion dollar in 2016 and is expected to cross 540 billion dollar in 2020. 
Terming it as an ongoing revolution, Mr Jaitley said that there is an expanding middle class and below that there is a growing aspirational class, which is building up reasonable purchasing power. 
On the occasion, Finance Minister also said that that India had displayed its capacity and ability to take difficult decisions which will benefit the economy. The decisions taken are sure to raise quality of life of the citizen.
He said that the structural reforms implemented in the last three years have been duly recognised, with India being the only major country to feature on the 'Structural reforms'. UNI
