Moscow, Nov 22: India is planning to further expand its military-technical cooperation with
Russia and set up a joint venture on defence technology, Indian Ambassador to
Russia Pankaj Saran has said.
"India highly values Russian military
technologies and is hoping for their transfer to our country.. We are
contemplating not only joint production but also exporting products to third
countries," Saran said at a meeting with Tula region governor Alexei
Dyumin on Tuesday. Saran, who was on a working trip to the Tula,
praised cooperation with Russian companies, including those in the region. "We are cooperating with about four Tula
defence-industrial enterprises, our cooperation is valued at several hundred
million dollars," Saran said. The Tula region has 25 defence companies
employing over 30,000 people. Military products made in the Tula region account
for around 40 per cent of all Russian arms exports. UNI
