Kolkata, Nov 6: The
West Bengal Panchayat and Rural Development Department has recently
launched watershed-based initiatives for livelihood augmentation in
several districts.
The government has initiated watershed-based initiatives in soil and moisture conservation, plantation and livelihood augmentation in 54 blocks in Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum, Paschim Medinipur and Paschim Bardhaman districts.
It may be mentioned that the department had already taken up several schemes for watershed development for livelihood augmentation under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural mployment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Scheme. UNI
