KATHUA, DECEMBER 01: Deputy Chief Minister,
Dr. Nirmal Singh said that Power is one of the essential commodities for
economic growth, development and livelihood of the people and the government
aims to provide round the clock electricity to each and every household.
The DyCM said this while inaugurating 6.3 MVA
Transformer costing Rs. 48 Lakhs at Mahanpur of Tehsil Basohli.
He said the transformer will help in resolving
various power related issues of the people and said that the newly installed
transformer along with the new 11 KV VCB panel will benefit 18 Panchayats and
30,000 souls. He said 152 transformers of the area will get augmented.
“The high expectations on Power for its
continuous availability has increased the demand year after year whereas the
supply is not matching the pace of the demand due to which there is a gap which
needs to be plugged by eliminating power theft and promoting judicious use of
power,” Nirmal Singh added.
On the occasion, Dr. Singh highlighted the
Central Government`s flagship programmes like DDUGJY and Saubhagya for
providing 24X7 reliable power to the people living in remote locations
He said the Central as well as State
Government has implemented several schemes viz. Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli
Har Ghar Yojana ‘Saubhagya’ and Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana
(DDUGJY) to electrify the un-electrified homes.
He further stated that for augmenting PDD
infra at Bani, Basohli and Billawar Rs. 18 Crores have been earmarked for
strengthening sub-transmission & distribution infrastructure including
metering at all levels.
Dr. Singh also listened to the demands put
forth by the residents which mainly comprises of SDM office at Mahanpur,
provision for renewal of Gun License, inclusion of Science subjects in Mahanpur
Degree College, Separate electricity feeder for PHE and Municipality for
Mahanpur besides revamping the PHE, PDD and PWD (R&B) infra.
On the spot directions were issued by the Dy
CM to resolve these public issues on priority and assured the public that the
State dispensation is adopting zero tolerance towards corruption and special
thrust is given to promote tourism as well as establishing industries to
generate employment.
Providing immediate relief to the people of
village Dhar Dugnu who demanded electrification of their hamlet, Dy CM
immediately directed the Chief Engineer to install electric poles and wire for
early electrification of this hamlet.
MLA Bani, Jeevan Lal also highlighted various
welfare schemes of Central as well as State Government and urged the locals to
take maximum benefit from these schemes by registering themselves with the
concerned agencies at the earliest. He also asked the residents to come forward
for metering to get un-interrupted power supply.

Gupta; SE, Sandeep Seth, Engineers, SDPO Basholi, Tehsildars, BDOs and
prominent citizens were present on the occasion.
