Srinagar, Dec 1: An
Over Ground Worker (OGW) of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was arrested and two hideouts
were busted in the frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
Meanwhile, huge cache of arms and
ammunition were recovered from the hideouts.A CRPF spokesperson told UNI that following specific information, a joint operation was launched by Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, 30 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 92 battalion of CRPF at Handwara in Kupwara.
He said during the operation, security forces zeroed in on an OGW, identified as Affaq Ahmed Bhat alias Abu Huraira, a resident of Panditpura.
“Bhat, who was providing logistic support to Abu Maaz of LeT, was immediately taken into custody,” he said.
He said police also busted two hideouts maintained by Bhat and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
“One pistol, two Pistol Magazines, 11 pistol rounds, two wireless sets, one Ysms set, four mobile sets, one UBGL thrower, one UBGL Grenade, two AK magazines, 105 AK rounds, two compass, one Binocular, one Wire cutter, five Battery chargers, 48 Batteries, First Aid (Made in Pakistan), medicines /Cotton Bandage, two Cooking Flames, one Perfume, two Maps, one Jacket, two Bags and Cosmetics etc were recovered from the hideouts,” he added.
