JAMMU,
DECEMBER 20- Minister for Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudhary Lal
Singh today said that Government has earmarked Rs 1 crore for proper disposal
of Solid and Liquid Waste in Basohli Town.
The
Minister was speaking at a meeting of officers, here today at Civil
Secretariat.
Chairman
State Pollution Control Board, B Siddhartha, Director Social Forestry Ashwani
Gupta, Managing Director State Forest Corporation, Suresh Gupta, Additional
Deputy Commissioner Basholi Sanjay Gupta, Additional Secretary to Tourism
Gulzar Ahmed Shabnam, Chief Executive Officer Sarthal-Bani Development
Authority Sudershan Kumar, Expert Solid and Liquid Waste Management Zaffar
Iqbal besides other senior officers of Forests and Tourism departments attended
the meeting.

Lal Singh said that under the project, Government has
sanctioned two dustbins for each household for segregated collection of bio and
solid waste. He said two auto rickshaws with trolley have been put in service
for door to door waste lifting and dumping at the identified place.
The
Minister asked the concerned department to educate the people of all 13-wards
of Basholi town about proper disposal of Solid and Liquid Waste by holding
awareness camps. He directed the officers to immediately complete tender and
other codal formalities for early start of the project in the town.
Choudhary
Lal Singh asked the Experts of Solid and Liquid Waste Management to take
immediate action to ensure proper sanitation and collection of garbage from
narrow streets of the town.
Later,
the Minister also chaired a meeting of the officers of Tourism department and
reviewed the issues related to the identification of the area to be brought
under newly created Basholi-Bani Development Authority.
Choudhary Lal Singh
instructed for inclusion of all areas of tourism potential of the Basholi and
Bani towns. He directed the Tourism Department to fill the vacancies in the
Basholi-Bani Development authority for making it fully functional. He stressed
on fast tracking the execution of tourism infrastructure in the jurisdiction of
the development authority.
