New Delhi, Dec 29: The Congress on Friday appointed senior leaders Ashok Gehlot and Jitendra Singh as observers for the first legislature party meeting in Gujarat to select the CLP leader while Sushil Kumar Shinde and Balasaheb Thorat will be the observers for the first legislature party meeting in Himachal Pradesh.
According to AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi, 'Congress president Rahul Gandhi has appointed Mr Gehlot, the general secretary incharge for Gujarat, and former Union Minister Jitendra Singh as observers for the first legislature party meeting of Gujarat to select the CLP leader.'
He has appointed Mr Shinde, the General Secretary incharge for Himachal, and former Maharashtra Minister Mr Thorat as the Congress observers for the first legislature party meeting in Himachal Pradesh to select the CLP leader.
In the just-concluded elections, the Congress lost to the BJP in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh assembly elections.
While in Gujarat, it won 80 seats in the 182 member state assembly, in Himachal it won 21 seats in the 68 member state assembly. 
Congress president Rahul Gandhi is on a visit to Shimla on Friday to review the party's performance in the recently-held Assembly election. UNI
