Agartala, Dec 22: More than 4,500 supporters of different political parties, including Congress MLA Ratan Lal Nath and CPI-M tribal wing leader Ranjan Debbarma, today joined BJP's mammoth rally at party headquarters in presence of All India BJP secretary Ram Madhav, Assam Finance Minister Hemant Biswa Sharma and PWD Minister Parimal Shukla Baidya.
BJP state president Biplab Kumar Deb said the party has formally launched its election activity by joining the programme and soon there will be a significant exodus from ruling CPI-M party and BJP has mobilized enter energy to Tripura to win the coming election.
“The anti-left wave has been sweeping across the state for past few months and BJP would be able to garner the sentiment because of the political commitment of BJP chief Amit Shah and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both the leaders will address the election rallies to highlight the vision of BJP for Tripura soon,” Deb stated.
The party has been campaigning in the state for last six months and BJP has been able to form the organizational base at booth level to counter CPI-M, he said adding that in past elections opposition could not reach at the micro level and communists took the advantage and manipulated the entire process.
“Since statehood of Tripura, leftists never faced election – they won by manipulation. The election in Tripura used to be the fight between the state government and opposition and as a result there was no scope for opposition parties to win the election,” Deb alleged while addressing the gathering.
Mr Hemant Biswa Sharma is scheduled to hold meetings with tribal based regional parties on forging electoral adjustment and other election related strategic issues. Ram Madhav is scheduled to hold meetings with the party’s different level of leaders during his three-day stay in Tripura and finalise the election activities.
BJP Central Observer Sunil Deodhar told media after joining of Ratan Lal Nath with his thousands of supporters that the Congress was now left with only two MLAs in the 60-member assembly. 'Virtually there is no opposition left. This is the first time, there will be a direct contest between BJP and CPI-M,he added. UNI
