New Delhi, Dec 21: The opposition Congress members continued to disrupt proceedings of the Lok
Sabha for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday protesting Prime Minister
Narendra Modi's allegations against Dr Manmohan Singh and insisted that Mr Modi
should tender an apology.
As soon as the House assembled to begin day's business,
several Congress members were up on their feet while floor leader Mallikarjun
Kharge wanted to say something on the issue.
Speaker Sumitra Mahajan disallowed taking up the issue and called out members name to commence with the Question Hour.
Congress members, including K C Venugopal, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sushmita Dev, Gaurav Gogoi and others soon rushed to the well of the House raising slogans like 'Maafi Mango (Ask for apology)' and 'Jhoota bayan band karo (Stop making baseless allegation)'.
Proceedings of the Question Hour and Zero Hour were disrupted on Wednesday as well but later during the afternoon session, the Congress members stayed away from the House.
On Thursday, even as the Question Hour was taken up and Ministers were responding to queries pertaining to Civil Aviation Ministry and Water Resources, the Speaker told agitating Congress members, "I have said this before, I will not allow anything to be raised on matters what is said or mentioned at election rallies".
On this Congress member Jyotiraditya Scindia was heard saying it was within the "democratic rights" of the members to raise such issues.
Talks between the ruling side and opposition Congress on Tuesday to end the deadlock have failed and the BJP has rejected Congress' demand for an apology from the Prime Minister saying he did not say anything wrong. UNI
