JAMMU, DECEMBER 11:
Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga, today flagged off a
tour group of thirty farmers from Sarore for training on latest interventions
in horticulture under the centrally sponsored schemes MIDH and ATMA.
During the five-day tour, being
organized by the Department of Horticulture, Samba, the group of farmers will
visit Punjab AgriUniversity Ludhiana, RHRS Gangia, Indo Italian Citrus Estate
Bunga Hoshiarpur, CSKVV Palampur and various successful orchards.
On the occasion, the Minister said that
the Government has initiated many steps to educate farmers about modern
techniques to help them increase their production and improve their living
standards.
Interacting with the farmers, Ganga
impressed upon them to seize the opportunity by equipping themselves with
latest knowledge and technical know-how for increasing efficiency and
productivity. He also asked them to share their expertise and experience which
they will attain during the study tour with others as well.
The Minister complimented the
department for organizing this programme and said similar programmes should be
organized at regular intervals.

Sharma briefed the farmers about different schemes in pipeline for development
of horticulture in Samba district.
Later, the Minister paid tributes to
martyr Vikas Sharma, SI of CRPF, who
was killed at Bijapur in Chattisgarh. He conveyed condolences to the bereaved
family and prayed for eternal solace to the departed soul.
