Gandhinagar, Dec 14: Over 18 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections during the first
three hours of polling on Thursday.
Gujarat Election Commissioner B B Swain told
UNI, “In the first two hours, the polling percentage was recorded at 12.39 per
cent.”
The voting started at 0800 hrs in the morning and conclude at 1700 hrs in the evening.
On receiving complaints over faulty EVMs, Mr Swain said, “We have received two complaints regarding presence of bluetooth in polling booths in Ghatlodia and Mehsana.We sent observers to the spot.”
He added, 'Out of total machines deployed for second phase of Gujarat polls, 1.63 per cent VVPATs were replaced after mock polls.
“We have also replaced 0.88 Ballot Units and 0.86 per cent Control Units,” said the Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer.
Elections are taking place across 14 districts in north and central Gujarat, including capital Gandhinagar and state's commercial hub Ahmedabad. UNI
