Gandhinagar, Dec 14: The voters' turnout in the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly elections was recorded at 50 point 3 per cent till 2pm on Thursday.
According to Gujarat Election Commission, Till 2pm, the polling is recorded at 50.3 per cent.”
In the initial two hours, the voters turnout was slow as it recorded only 12.39 per cent.”
The voting started at 8 in the morning and will conclude at 5 in the evening.
Earlier in the day, the Election Commission had received a number of complaints regarding faulty EVMs.
Responding to the complaints, Mr BB Swain, Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer, said, “We have received two complaints regarding presence of Bluetooth in polling booths in Ghatlodia and Mehsana.We sent observers to the spot.”
Further he added, Out of total machines deployed for second phase of Gujarat Polls 1.63 per cent VVPATs replaced after mock polls. “We have also replaced 0.88 Ballot Units and 0.86 per cent Control Units,” said the Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer.
The election is being held in 93 seats across over 25000 polling stations in central as well as north Gujarat.
The first phase of elections was held on December 9 in 89 seats of Saurashtra and south Gujarat region.
The result will be declared on December 18. UNI
