JAMMU,
DECEMBER 21: First of its kind ‘Six
A Side’ Day Night Hockey
Tournament concluded here this evening at Gadhi Garh with 7 teams including 3
school level Junior teams participating in the sports event.
The
tournament was organized under the aegis of Bhargava Sports Academy to promote
physical fitness among the youth.
Speaker, Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta was Chief Guest at the concluding
ceremony. He wished the finalists a great success in their sports career.
The
final match was won by Hockey Hockers Gadhi Garh by defeating Classico Yellow
Upper Gadhi Garh by 2 goals.
Later, the Speaker also felicitated the winners and other participants of the
tournament.
While lauding the efforts of the organizers of the tournament, the Speaker said
that more such events need to be held to explore the new talent and enable
youth to develop their physical and mental health. “Hockey is India’s National Game and our main focus
should be to promote it at all levels. I advise youth to take maximum benefits
by enthusiastically participating in such events,” Speaker asserted.
The
Speaker reiterated that the government is committed to provide full support for
the promotion of sports culture in the state and appealed the parents to motivate their
children for taking part in the co-curricular activities for their overall
development.
Organising
Secretary, Tournament, S Amarjit Singh, Principal Bhargava Public School, Vikas
Bhargava, senior leaders and a large number of sports lovers were present on
the occasion.
