Panaji, Dec 28: Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday justified his letter written to Karnataka Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Chief B S Yeddyurappa on Mahadayi water sharing issue and claimed that that it was not done under pressure.
Responding to questions during a press conference at state Secretariat at Porvorim near the city, he said, “My letter is legally perfect and after considering Goa's interest. I have briefed all my ministers about the issue... There was no pressure from anybody. I am beyond pressure.'
He alleged that Congress government sabotaged the interest of the state on Mahadayi issue before 2007 election and said that he would prove it in the state assembly with documents.
He claimed that he had been fighting on the issue since 2002 and his letter written to Mr Yeddyurappa would not affect legal case before the tribunal.
The Chief Minister said he had not agreed to provide drinking water to the neighbouring state from river Mahadayi but but to talk on it.
He said the letter was written after consulting senior counsel Atmaram Nadkarni.
'What can I do if somebody misuses it,' he asked. UNI
