New Delhi, Dec 28: Unanimously condemning the 'inhuman' treatment to the family of Kulbushan Jadhav by Pakistan during their meeting with him in jail, the Rajya Sabha on Thursday said all possible efforts should be made to secure his release.
Associating with the statement made by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj regarding the meeting of family members of Mr Jadhav with him in Pakistan and the situation arising there from, Leader of the 
Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “The insult meted out to the mother and wife of Mr Jadhav by 
Pakistan was not only an insult to the family but also to the 120 cr people of the country”.
Earlier, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj while making a statement in the Upper House said Pakistan had violated all norms of civility and humanity and the understanding reached with it by the insulting manner in which it conducted the meeting of Mr Jadhav’s mother and wife with him.
Stating that Pakistan does not believe in democracy, Mr Azad said that the government should ensure the safe release of Mr Jadhav.
Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party said that after the manner in with the mother and wife of Mr Jadhav were treated by Pakistan, a strong resolution should be passed in the House in this regard.
Derek O' Brien of the AITC said he and his party endorse every word and spirit of the statement.
Tapan Kumar Sen of the CPI-M said the way the family members were treated by the Pakistan government was “condemnable”. 
Others who associated with the statement were D Raja of CPI, Bhupender Yadav of the BJP, Dilip Kumar Tirkey of the BJD, Tiruchi Siva of DMK, Devender Goud of the TDP and P V Abdul Wahab of the IUML.
Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu asked the government to safely secure the release of Mr Jadhav and said that the entire House appreciated the steps taken by the government to secure justice for Kulbhushan Jadhav. UNI
