New Delhi, Dec 12: Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore on Tuesday felicitated former Captain of
Indian Football Team Gurdev Singh Gill for his contribution towards sport.
The minister presented Gill, who missed the
felicitation by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup's
opening ceremony, with a cash award of Rs five lakh along with a shawl and a
memento, the Ministry said in a statement.
Speaking after the ceremony Gill said he is happy with the promotion of Football in the country as FIFA U 17 world Cup has attracted a lot of attention throughout the country especially among youth and school students.
