Dhaka, Dec 28: Santoor exponent Shiv Kumar Sharma and exhilarating Kathak by Aditi Mangaldas
Dance Company were major highlights of the second day at the ongoing 6th Bengal
Classical Music Festival on Wednesday night here.
Led by Aditi Mangaldas, this was the first dance company
performing in the festival's six year history. Set to Sufi qawali Chashme Maste Ajabe, the solo piece was
filled with expressive eye movements. Santoor exponent Sharma enthralled classical music lovers
with Raga Jhinjhoti , the evening raag. The festival that got underway on December 26 also saw
performance by Bangladeshi Sitarist Firoz Khan. Supriya Das, a promising Bengal parampara artiste of Khayal,
rendered the melancholic Raga Malkauns and a thumri set on Raga Desh. Dhrupad maestro Pt Ulhas Kashalkar performed Raga Jogkauns. The festival organised by Dhaka based Bengal Foundation will
conclude on December 30-31 night. UNI
