New Delhi, Dec 21: The acquittals in the 2G scam and the continuing Congress' demand for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's clarification on his Pakistan conspiracy remark against his predecessor Dr Manmohan Sing on Thursday rocked the Rajya Sabha leading to its adjournment till 1400 hrs.
As soon as the House assembled for the day and Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu proceeded to take up Zero Hour issues, Leader of the Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad rose up to say they were expecting the Prime Minister's presence today as it was his question day, and they wanted his clarification on his 'false allegation' against Dr Singh, but today something more (court acquittals in 2G scam case) had happened.
Motioning towards the Treasury benches, he said it was because of the 2G issue that 'today you are there and we are here (Opposition benches).'
His remarks about the Prime Minister were strongly protested by the ruling party members and they wanted him not to use the phrase ' false allegation,' to which Mr Azad said he had not said anything unparliamentary, and 'if the Prime Minister's allegation were not false, then should we accept that Dr Singh conspired with Pakistan?'
While the verbal duel was going on between the Opposition and treasury benches, Mr Naidu told Mr Azad that he would not allow him to speak on the issue as he had not given any notice to him, following which the Congress Members trooped in the Well raising slogans, 'BJP sharam karo'(Shame on you BJP) making it impossible for the chair to proceed with Zero Hour. UNI
