Chennai, Dec 19: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi was all set to
visit the cyclone-hit Kanniyakumari district on Tuesday, the Opposition
DMK appealed him to sanction Rs 2,000 crore central assistance to
mitigate the sufferings of the people affected by the calamity.
DMK Working President M K Stalin also urged
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to insist the Centre for immediate
assistance.Stalin tweeted 'Its been 21 days since the disastrous ockhi cyclone struck & ruined the normal life in Kanyakumari dist and killed fishermen, the @CMO TamilNadu has failed to seek central funds for relief & rehabilitation'.
'Since PM @narendramodi is visiting Kanyakumari today, I appeal to the PM to sanction Rs.2000 crore from the central fund to mitigate the suffering of the people', he said.
'The CM must insist for immediate central assistance', he added. UNI
